When a site shows a CAPTCHA, first identify the environment where it appeared. Octoparse provides manual handling in Browse Mode and a Local-run pause, show-browser, and resume workflow. It also provides automatic solving for Image CAPTCHA, reCAPTCHA V2, and reCAPTCHA V3. After verification, confirm that the expected page and data are returned.

How automatic CAPTCHA solving works

Add a Solve CAPTCHA step in the task editor, then choose the CAPTCHA type. The step runs during Local and Cloud extraction. Octoparse obtains the information required by the selected type, requests a CAPTCHA result, and applies that result to the page. It does not guarantee that the website will accept the result or allow the task to continue. For Image CAPTCHA, the failure condition is important: it tells the task that the entered answer was rejected. Set a maximum retry count before running the task. If the page still shows the CAPTCHA after the test, stop and review the task setup rather than increasing the run volume.

What automatic solving does not replace

Automatic solving handles the CAPTCHA step. It does not keep a login session valid, choose a proxy or region, repair a changed workflow, or confirm that the extracted data is correct. After a successful-looking attempt, check the final page and several output rows.

CAPTCHA pricing

Automatic CAPTCHA solving costs $1 per 1,000 attempts. Each attempt is charged at this rate, whether it succeeds or fails. If a CAPTCHA needs two attempts, both attempts are charged. Octoparse does not use a separate CAPTCHA credit balance. Check your account’s available credits before starting a larger run. If there are no available credits, the task cannot continue automatic CAPTCHA solving. A CAPTCHA-related resource event confirms that an attempt occurred; the final page and sample data confirm whether the website accepted it.

Test before scaling

Use a small test before increasing task volume. Check the final page, the CAPTCHA-related resource events, and several output rows. If the page remains unavailable or the returned data is not correct, review the CAPTCHA type, session, IP, and page state before trying again.
