How to Extract Tweets from TwitterThursday, March 31, 2016 11:16 PM
Download Octoparse and install it. Register a new account at www.octoparse.com. Or directly click the “Sign up” option the Login interface.
Step 1. Complete basic information. ➜ Click “Next”.
1)Sign in your twitter in the build-in browser.
Click the first textbox to input your account and select “Enter text value”.
Type in your account/password in the input box under “Customize Current Action”. ➜ Then click “Save” button.
Click on “Log in” button. ➜ “Click an item”.
Now you’ve logged in your account in the build-in browser.
2)Click the search textbox. ➜ Then click “Enter text value”.
Type in anything you want to search. Take "data extractor" for example. Type in the words “Data extractor”. ➜ Then click “Save” button.
3)Click the search button. ➜ Choose “Click an item”.
Now we need to create a list of items. ➜ Choose the highlighted section.
Then select “create a list of item”. ➜ "Add current item to the list. ➜ “Continue to edit the list".
Then choose the second tweet.➜ "Add current item to the list".
➜ "Finish creating list"
➜ Click “loop” to process the list.
4)Next, extract data. ➜ Click on information you want to extract. ➜Choose “Extract text”.
All the content will be selected in Data Fields. ➜ Click the "Field Name" to modify.
Now we’re done configuring extraction rule. You can choose not to load images to speed up the extraction. But sometimes may cause problems on certain websites. ➜ Then Click "Next".
Now the Task is completed! Choose the ‘Local extraction’ to run the task on your computer.
The data extracted will be shown in "Data Extracted" pane. Click button to export the results to Excel file, databases or other formats and save the file to your computer. You can check out the built-in browser to see if the task runs as expected.
